Spectroscopy and Near-Infrared to Visible Upconversion of Er3+ Ions in Aluminosilicate Glasses Manufactured with Controlled Optical Transmission

In this work we report on the spectroscopic properties and near-infrared to visible upconversion of Er3+ ions in aluminosilicate glasses manufactured by directionally solidification with laser floating zone technique. Glasses were a controlled oxidizing atmosphere provide them high optical transmission spectral range. Absorption emission spectra, lifetimes assessed both near infrared Green emissions 2H11/2→4I15/2 4S3/2→4I15/2 transitions at 525 nm 550 attributed two-photon process observed under excitation 800 nm. Mechanisms responsible for luminescence discussed terms excited state absorption energy transfer processes. Excitation spectra upconverted suggest that processes are green luminescence.
